Have you made someone smile today?
I had a conversation with my 7-year-old son the other day. I asked him if he had noticed that his friend always smiles and says hello. Furthermore, I told him that it is very contagious. The boy wasn't sure if he had noticed. I asked him if we should do an experiment? He was very ready for this!
I suggested that he test it out! And he was super ready! First in to see the grandparents. The kid put on the biggest smile and left it on for five minutes. The smiles from the grandparents were not long in coming. It took about 5 seconds. "See?" I said to him. "It works!"
Grandparents might not be the best experiment. They would have smiled anyway.
We took it further! The boy went to handball training and we agreed again that this should be tested. A couple of minutes after arriving at the hall, he looks at me and confirms that this had a tremendous effect.
Early the next morning, we had overslept. I was constantly nagging them to hurry up. The children were moving at a snail's pace in everything they did and irritation was high on the barometer of the mum in the house. The boy finally sits down on the stairs and shouts "Mummy". I tell him to hurry up because we're running out of time. He shouts "Mummy" 3-4 more times. In a slightly irritated voice, I turn round and say: "What is it?"
There he sat with the biggest smile!
The experiment worked extremely well!
Have a wonderful day out there. "Make someone smile"!
