Who makes Lykketegning

My name is Ingebjørg Rangøy Sjåland and I'm the illustrator behind Lykketegning.

I'm a trained childcare worker and have worked with deaf children in Denmark and Norway for many years. I'm 46 years old, a mum of two and married to the best man in the world.

Retired handball player and committed choir conductor.

How it all started.

"I might have dreamed big that I would be a photographer one day, an even wilder fantasy was to write a book. But it never occurred to me that I would sit and draw!

Ingebjørg Rangøy Sjåland's drawing career began when she drew a doodle of her family at a seminar. Her colleague was so excited by the drawing that she asked her to share it. Sjåland posted the drawing on Instagram, where she received 10 likes, three comments and an order. That was enough to get her drawing juices flowing - that's all it took," laughs Sjåland.

- I didn't know if my Facebook friends were interested in my drawings, so I created a page called "Happiness Drawing" instead. As it turned out, this created engagement, because I got more and more followers, and more and more orders.

Lykketegning now has over 80,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram. She has followers from at least 28 countries and receives orders from all over the world.

- Most of my orders come from people who want to have their family drawn as gifts for christenings, confirmations, weddings and birthdays. Sometimes I also get family members who are no longer with us, but who I can draw in.
Her drawings are simple, with big smiles and lots of hearts. But none of her drawings are the same, and once she starts drawing, she rarely changes them.

- "The first thing I draw is what stays, so I rarely redecorate or rebuild.

They're not perfect drawings at all, but I think that's part of the charm. Life isn't perfect and neither are they, and maybe that's what strikes a chord with people." NRK Østfold
