When life goes into a loop
The past year has been strange and different for all of us.
Social visits, spontaneous trips, travelling abroad have been packed away and shoved under the bed.
And with that, some of the top seasoning disappears in everyday life too. It's like pizza without cheese, waffles without jam and pasta without parmasan on top. The days become a little more ordinary.
Don't get me wrong, we're doing just fine. The days with the toddlers have made the whole covid year chop easier than for many who are on their own.
Yet it feels like the days go in a loop. The same chores.
Alarm clock, packed lunches, school, work, driving, homework, dinner, TV, evening, going to bed and waking up again. And so the carousel goes.
We certainly don't want it to stop, but maybe it could do a few twists and turns now and then?
Maybe we'll have dinner at the water's edge, eat tacos on a Tuesday, go rock climbing, go for a bike ride. Bake in the middle of the week, make a cinema at home with tickets and popcorn. Something to disrupt the loop a little? Make it crazy? Put it out of order.
I think these thoughts, while I'm making dinner, thinking that I have to pick up my daughter soon, then training, then supper and then the evening....but tomorrow....then I can think of something...maybe....
How are you doing, by the way?
